Collection Dance was established in February 2023 by Owner and Principal Teacher, Megan Clout.
Our philosophy is to make dance accessible to all by making nothing compulsory. All aspects of the dance school have freedom and choice.
My passion for dance began at the age of four, when I joined a local freestyle school alongside my sister. I was immediately drawn to the freedom of self-expression within freestyle and soon developed a dedication to both graded examinations and competitions.
Alongside this, I trained at Italia Conti, where I studied Ballet, Musical Theatre, Street, and Jazz. During secondary school, I discovered contemporary dance—a style I fell in love with for its creativity and forward-thinking approach. This passion continued through my GCSEs and A Levels, and I was fortunate to join the Brighton and Hove Youth Dance Company, touring and teaching with them for a year.
After completing sixth form, I pursued a degree in Contemporary Dance at the University of Chichester. In my final year, I toured nationally and internationally as a member of the university’s professional performance company, 3Fall Dance Company.
Knowing that teaching was my vocation, I went on to complete my PGCE at The Royal Academy of Dance, qualifying with Outstanding Teacher Status.
My first teaching role was at Glenthorne High School, a performing arts specialist school in Surrey, where I taught for five years. During this time, I held a variety of leadership positions, including Head of Dance (maternity cover), ArtsOne Coordinator, and Assistant Head of Year. I gained extensive experience delivering KS3 Dance, GCSE Dance, A Level Dance, and BTEC Dance, and I established an elite all-girls dance company that achieved significant success, winning several competitions including the London Youth Games.
Alongside my teaching career, I hold my International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) Freestyle Associate and Licentiate qualifications, and was honoured to receive the IDTA John Dilworth Scholarship Award for Freestyle. I am a full member of the Association of Dance Freestyle Professionals (ADFP), a Championship Adjudicator, and proud that Collection Dance is a registered school for competitive freestyle.
In addition, I am a certified Acrobatic Arts instructor (Module One) and qualified in Contemporary Grades with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD).
Collection Dance provides a safe and friendly environment where everyone is encouraged to explore and create!
